Our Story

Burnette Farms is a 4th generation family farm located in Chilton County, Alabama. The farm began with sweet potatoes, collards, and turnips. Later expanded to peaches and other various vegetables. For years the Burnette’s have attended many local farmers markets. The Burnette’s were one of the first 11 vendors that started Pepper Place in 2000, Pepper Place is now in their 19th year and Burnette Farms is still a vendor!

In 2016 owner Mike Burnette decided he wanted a market that was open 7 days a week and year-round!

On April 1st, 2017, Burnette Farms Market opened its doors in Pelham, Alabama. On May 1st, 2018, the ice cream room was opened. This is where Mike makes all the ice cream himself and to date, he has over 100 different flavors with more coming!

The different flavors range from peach to sweet heat. There are always unique flavors to go along with the tried-and-true favorites. A few months later a café was added serving meat and fresh cooked vegetables from the market!

In the Fall you will find a variety of pumpkins, gourds and mums.

In the winter, we offer fresh pecans and a huge selection of Christmas items!

“‘Don’t you wish we could have our own market every day?’ he’d ask me,” Mary Charles Burnette said speaking of her husband, Mike Burnette. “We both had that dream—of owning and running our own farmer’s market.”

Great family-owned and operated market. Large variety of locally grown produce. Homemade ice cream. Large amount of pumpkins and gourds during the fall, Christmas trees in December, and flowers in the spring and summer.
